High-Quality Underwear for Working in Cold Storage and Deep-Freeze Storage.
Modern functional underwear allows enough air through its material to prevent heavy sweating, despite its ability to store heat. Instead of just radiating body heat, as is the case with plain cotton underwear, functional underwear has an insulating effect in cooler ambient temperatures. Our cold protection clothing can be ideally complemented by a waistcoat as well as matching thermal underwear.
Individual climate control
Fortdress underwear provides optimal climate management when working in the cold. Moisture is transported to the outside of the garment so that the body always stays warm and dry. The ergonomic fit and the extra-flat underwear seams ensure the highest possible wearing comfort.
Is underwear necessary for extreme cold?
To avoid freezing at work, it is not only important to wear a warming jacket or trousers, but above all not to make any mistakes in the bottom layer of clothing. The tried-and-tested onion-skin principle is still used today. The innermost layer is the underwear. You should not only feel warm, but the removal of the moisture you produce is just as important. Especially when you are on the move, you can get quite sweaty even at very low temperatures. Then it's important to wear good underwear that wicks sweat away from your skin while insulating your body heat.
What types of thermal underwear are there?
Thermal underwear mainly comes in two different varieties, made of synthetic fibre and natural fibre (mostly wool).
Our Fortdress underwear is often made of a polyester-blended functional fibre that has the property of drying very quickly and feeling soft against the skin. At the same time, this synthetic fibre quickly absorbs moisture and immediately wicks it away from the skin to the outside. The inside of the thermal underwear is mostly fluffy and soft. This high level of functionality and breathability makes it suitable for even the highest sporting demands. Pleasantly light, it sets another plus point with its very high heat retention capacity.
This is what you should look for when buying underwear:
In the following, we will show you what you should pay special attention to when buying underwear so that you do not regret your purchase in the end:
- Fitting
- Temperature regulation
- Intended use
- Breathability
You can read in this section what exactly you need to consider in the purchase criteria.
Fitting
Thermal underwear should be tight-fitting and worn directly against the skin. So you should use them as the first layer of clothing.
Thermal underwear should be close-fitting and worn directly against the skin. They should therefore be used as the first layer of clothing.
Tailoring
Our tops cuts have an ergonomic fit and an extended back for kidney protection. The vests have raglan sleeves and close-fitting cuffs. Likewise, our quilted jackets have knitted cuffs or collars with chin protectors.
The trousers have been raised slightly at the back so that you can tuck the tops in and the sensitive kidney area is protected. This is reinforced by an elasticated waistband. The trousers are tight around the entire leg area and reach down to the ankles.
So that chafing on the skin doesn't spoil your whole day, the thermal underwear has flat seams that prevent rubbing and lie comfortably against the skin.
Temperature regulation
Thermal underwear is designed to insulate the body. Depending on the material, this insulation can be of different strengths. However, the breathability usually suffers from a high level of insulation. It therefore does not have a warming effect right from the start. To achieve this effect, the body must first produce heat on its own - for example, through movement. How much you have to move depends on the material.
Intended use
Due to the different materials, undergarments can also fulfil different functions. Remember that different materials have different effects. If you plan to go hiking in the cold, you should only make sure that you are insulated as well as possible. If you want to do sporting activities, you should also ensure the necessary comfort and breathability.
Depending on the material, underwear is extremely breathable. Good underwear releases the moisture of perspiration outwards into the air. So it doesn't soak it in, doesn't get damp and therefore slows down the cooling process. Especially when moving, it is enormously important to have breathable undergarments.
What sizes are available for the Fortdress underwear?
The range of sizes is extensive, so there is something for all body proportions. For example, the cold protection can be purchased in sizes XS-6XL. The garments fit according to our size chart and do not need to be ordered larger or smaller. However, a good fit is very important with this form of clothing.
What do I have to consider when cleaning underwear?
Before washing, you should definitely look at the label. Here you will find some information about cleaning.
In general, however, you should know that contrary to expectations, synthetic fibre thermal underwear is quite easy to care for. Ideally, however, thermal underwear should be washed at 30 degrees, as this is the best way to keep the individual fibres in shape.
