The European standard EN 14058 specifies these requirements and test methods for protective clothing against cool environments.

How do I wear cold storage clothing correctly?
Optimal protection with cold store clothing is only ensured if it is worn correctly. Normal jackets or vests alone are often not enough. In combination with chiller bib trousers and brace trousers, however, nothing stands in the way of reliable protection against the cold. Of course, the head, hands and feet must also be protected from cooling down, which is why warm caps as headgear and cold protective gloves as work gloves are also counted among the necessary workwear in cold temperatures. The wearer must be able to make all the physical movements necessary for their job without significant restrictions. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can also have a negative effect on thermal insulation - too little air circulates in clothing that is too tight, while too much cold air penetrates between layers of clothing that are too loose.
EN 14058
The European standard EN 14058 specifies the requirements and test methods for the performance characteristics of garments for protection against the effects of cool environments with temperatures above -5°C. These are not only low air temperatures, but also humidity and wind speed. Cold protective clothing systems are excluded from this standard. The protective effects and requirements for footwear, gloves and separate headgear are not within the scope of this standard.
In order to be certified according to EN 14058, a garment must always be tested for its thermal resistance. Optionally, it can also be tested for air permeability, waterproofness and thermal insulation. There are 5 different tests that a garment can be subjected to in order to meet the standard.
