EN 14058
EN 14058 is a European standard that specifies requirements for cold protection clothing for workers. This certified cold protection clothing provides protection against cold and wind while ensuring breathability and freedom of movement.
The standard is intended for clothing used in environments with temperatures down to -5°C. It covers protection against cold through a combination of wind, humidity, and low temperatures.
Clothing System:
Clothing that consists of either a two-piece set or a one-piece overall, or multiple pieces that cover the entire body—excluding separate garments for the head, hands, and feet.
Clothing Requirements:
The clothing must meet the following requirements:
- must not have rough, sharp, or hard surfaces
- jacket, coat, or overall must be fastenable up to the collar or neckband
- jacket or coat must be long enough to cover the waistband
- outer pockets must be fastenable
Materials and Technologies:
Cold protection clothing can be made from various materials that offer insulating properties while maintaining freedom of movement. Commonly used materials include Thinsulate or synthetic down to ensure both insulation and breathability.
Labels:
The protective clothing must be labelled according to the requirements set out in the standard to provide users with clear information about its properties and care instructions.
