Convective cold
Convective cold is the penetrating cold that arises due to wind and low temperatures.
With convective cold, protecting the entire body is important, as this type of cold is caused by the airflow that passes over the body and removes heat. Therefore, it is not sufficient to protect only the hands; the entire body must be adequately protected from cold exposure due to moving air or wind.
Compliance with standards DIN EN 14058 (for protective clothing in cool environments above -5°C), DIN EN 342 (for protection against cold), and DIN EN 343 (for protection against rain and snow) are important criteria, depending on the application area, that should be considered first when selecting the appropriate protective clothing.
Protective Measures:
To protect against convective cold, wearing appropriate clothing or hand protection is important. Insulating materials can help prevent the cool air from making direct contact with the skin.
Health Aspects:
Prolonged exposure to convective cold can lead to a cooling of the body and increase the risk of hypothermia or frostbite. It is important to dress appropriately in cold environments and protect oneself from the effects of convective cold.
