Contact cold
Contact cold occurs when coming into contact with cold objects or surfaces. To protect against contact cold, it is recommended to use gloves with appropriate protective properties.
The protective effectiveness of gloves against contact cold is tested according to ISO 5085. A glove that meets the requirements of EN 511 provides protection against contact cold.
Prevention and Protection:
To avoid contact cold, appropriate protective clothing is important. In cold environments, protective gloves should be used to minimise direct contact with cold surfaces.
Health Effects:
Contact cold can be uncomfortable and lead to a temporary sensation of cold. In extreme cases, however, it can result in frostbite, where body tissue is damaged by cold exposure. Particularly exposed body parts such as hands, feet, and face are more susceptible to contact cold.
